Community Assessment

Community Assessment:
Analyzing Previous Studies & Surveying the People

Community Assessment, Review of Community Surveys and Community Plans

It's helpful &important to include previous studies & surveys into a community development plan.

As part of the Winning Communities planning process, we schedule a series of public meetings to gather input and ideas from community leaders and citizens.  The first step in this process is analyzing any previous or current community plans, econommic development plans, community surveys or other research.

Compiling and assimilating this community data ensures that we take previous community development efforts into consideration as part of the final community plan.

Aside from analyzing previous community studies, Winning Communities surveys public meeting attendees as well as all community residents for their perspective on the community’s growth. The Winning communities program includes addressing the city, town or county’s:

  • Response to current trends
  • Assets of the commumnity
  • Current challenges the community faces
  • Opportunities for community growth

Understanding the community’s position in its region, as well as assets, challenges and opportunities, will help shape some of the action items in the community plan.
