Jim Dittoe, President and Founder, Winning Communities
Jim Dittoe has more than 30 years of experience in the field
of community development and economic development, having been
the chief executive officer in chambers of commerce and economic
development councils in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. He has
led boards, community leadership and staff in the development
of mission, goals, and objectives for dynamic, action-oriented
organizations. Jim has been involved with the successful accomplishments
of the building of highways, airports, revitalized downtowns,
education foundations and other value-added projects. Through
his economic and community development work, thousands of jobs
and millions of dollars of capital have been added to local
economies.
In 1994, Jim established Winning Communities, Inc. to help
communities and organizations envision the future and develop
goals and action plans for achievement. As president of Winning
Communities, he emphasizes success and achievement through
an interactive community planning process. Jim is the primary
facilitator of the Winning Communities vision and action
planning process, and works closely with community leaders
and citizens throughout every project.
Community Involvement
Jim has been involved in numerous leadership positions for
both civic and community organizations. He was a past board
member and president of the Indiana
Chamber of Commerce Executives Association and past executive committee member and treasurer
of the American Chamber of
Commerce Executives Association.
He has also taught Community Analysis at the Institute for
Organization Management at Notre
Dame University, the University
of Georgia, and the University
of Delaware. He was active
as a member of both the Indiana and Ohio Economic Development
Councils.
Jim also facilitates community and economic development by
bringing interested citizens and stakeholders together and
developing positive and productive communication channels.
He has been an honored speaker at many community events and
planning retreats for organizations and chambers of commerce.
Jim has also been involved in numerous economic development
studies, including the
I-69
Environmental Impact Statement project, conducted on behalf of the Indiana Department of Transportation.
Jim, and his wife Jan, a professional dental hygienist, reside
in Carmel, Indiana where they spend time with their three adult
children and eight grandchildren.
